Antique Window Upcycled

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I hope you had a chance to check out the link parties I joined

today!

They are such a wonderful thing and I really

enjoy checking out everyone's crafts!

So I promised a few posts ago that I had a fabulous

antique find to show you.

Now I am a avid antiquer (if there is such a word).

I, however, do not like when you go into a antique

shop and the stuff is not good and way over priced.

I recently discovered a shop called Haupt Antique Market.

They are only open 4 days of the month and have FABULOUS!

finds there.

Well, I have been in the market for a antique window.

And much to my excitement last week while browsing

I found this beauty:

at a lovely price of $25.00!

Now I knew I had to have it because, I want

something to put over our head board and this was

perfect.

So I took it home. While I was trying to decided

if I wanted to keep the glass in or break it out

my lovely three year old decided to take matters

into his own hands and broke it for me!

My husband and I sanded that baby down (the whole

time I am wondering "Does this paint have lead?")

There were quite a few layers, it went green, blue,

pink and red.

Interesting.....!

I spray painted it, distressed it

added some hanging mechanisms

and....

I love it!

I thought that it was a perfect place to hang my flower!

I love the simplicity of it and how great it looks!

Stay tuned for the final wrap up of this project

what I am going to put in the empty window openings!

  1. This looks great. I'm looking for a large, decorative, picture frame to house three 8x10 decorative frames, but I'm having no luck. Maybe a big window from Re-Nu store would work. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. I have a garage full of old windows I got for $.88 for the whole lot. None quite as big as this, you maybe I can put a few together to create a similar effect.
    Thanks for the idea

  3. Love this window and love the color. It's nice because it's not real heavy looking...could be dangerous over a bed. I think I like it better without the glass. Great eye:)
